About Our Program
We are a newly forming Waldorf-inspired homeschool enrichment program seeking a warm, experienced, and enthusiastic teacher to help bring our vision to life.
Our program was born from a desire to create a close-knit community where homeschooled children can experience the beauty, rhythm, and wonder of Waldorf education while maintaining the flexibility and connection of learning at home.
Meeting twice a week in a historic schoolhouse, we envision a nurturing, mixed-age environment where children can build lasting friendships, explore their creativity, develop confidence, and deepen their connection to the natural world.
Our long-term hope is to establish a community that grows alongside the children, with a teacher who can thoughtfully guide them from early childhood through the elementary grades while supporting parents in their homeschooling journeys.
About the Role
We are particularly interested in a formally trained Waldorf grades teacher, ideally with experience in early childhood education as well.
Our ideal teacher understands the developmental needs of children ages 4–7* and can create a thoughtful balance of imaginative play, artistic experiences, outdoor exploration, and some developmentally appropriate academic lessons. *most children will likely be around 5-6 though there will likely be a couple closer to 4 and we are open to 7 year olds joining
We hope to offer a rich Waldorf curriculum that includes music, storytelling, dramatic arts, handwork, movement, and seasonal celebrations alongside the gradual introduction of literacy, numeracy, and other elementary subjects.
Because our program is designed to complement homeschooling rather than replace it, we are seeking someone who enjoys collaborating with parents and can provide guidance and inspiration for continuing the children's education at home.
Responsibilities
-Establish a warm, consistent classroom rhythm rooted in Waldorf educational principles.
-Develop and lead engaging, seasonally inspired lessons incorporating storytelling, music, movement, painting, handwork, dramatic arts, and nature exploration.
- Support the needs of a mixed-age group, providing play-based experiences for younger children and appropriate academic foundations as children enter the grades.
-Foster cooperation, collaboration, independence, creativity, and a sense of community among the children.
-Incorporate seasonal festivals and traditions throughout the year.
-Collaborate with parents, offering occasional guidance and suggestions for learning at home.
-Help shape the program's curriculum and traditions as the community grows.
Ideal Qualifications
-Formal Waldorf grades teacher training strongly preferred.
-Experience teaching in a Waldorf school or Waldorf-inspired educational setting.
-Understanding of Waldorf early childhood education and the transition into the elementary grades.
-Experience teaching mixed-age groups and adapting lessons to different developmental stages.
-Confidence incorporating music, storytelling, artistic activities, and movement into daily lessons.
-A gentle, confident classroom presence and a genuine appreciation for childhood.
-Strong communication skills, creativity, and a collaborative spirit.
-Interest in helping establish a small educational community with the potential for a long-term teaching relationship.
A Collaborative Community
As a new program, we are still thoughtfully developing the details and hope to find a teacher who is excited to contribute their experience and creativity.
Parents will remain the primary educators in their children's lives, and we envision this program as a meaningful extension of their homeschooling experience. Parent volunteers may also rotate through the classroom to assist the teacher.
We are especially interested in finding someone who sees the potential in growing with this group of children as they progress through the grades. Some families may be interested in joining 3 days a week eventually, so ideally we’d love someone who would be open to working with us as this program evolves.
We would love to hear from educators who feel connected to this vision.
